Freeroll Tournaments:

Freerolls are multi-table poker tournaments with no entry fees that offers real prizes. These are usually cash prizes, but can also include entries to satellite tournaments, merchandise or sometimes a combination of both. The following are online poker rooms that offer frequent freerolls:
Freq. Prize(s): Conditions: Details:
Absolute Poker Weekly $1000 ** No point requirements, but participants must get in through a satellite freeroll first. Offers freerolls with real money cash prizes and/or satellite entries to other cash prize tournaments..
Empire Poker Daily $5000 * Raked hand requirements (vary) Currently offering Friday night freerolls, but there are regular changes in what's offered.
Prima Poker Rooms:
Daily $200
$1000
None
* 50 Raked Hands
Since they run off the same network, each of these poker rooms offers the same basic freerolls: $200 Daily freerolls are held at 7:00 EST each day with no requirements, and $1000 freerolls are offered 4 times daily for players who have participated in at least 50 raked hands in the previous 24 hours. Every day at 1:00, 11:00, 13:00 & 18:30 EST.
Pacific Poker Twice Daily $750 * Various Raked Hand Requirements Offers twice daily $750 freerolls for patrons, but with point requirements. (earned from regular play)
Party Poker Twice Daily $250-$2500 * Various Raked Hand Requirements Offers twice daily freerolls with various prize pools, depending on how many points (earned from play) are required to enter.
Poker Room Twice Daily $750 * Various Raked Hand Requirements Offers twice daily $750 freerolls for patrons, but with point requirements. (earned from regular play)
True Poker Daily $250 Small Raked Hand Requirement Offers twice daily $500 freerolls with with points (earned from play) required to enter.

* Raked Hand Requirements: This means you have to have played a certain number of real money games before you are eligible to enter the freeroll. This are often done on a points system, in which you accumulate said points during regular play and 'cash them in' for freeroll entries.

** Much like a satellite entry for a paying tournament, you have to win a tournament first in order to get into the actual freeroll tournament (though the qualifier is free as well in this case).

If you're mostly in it for the fun of the game, freerolls offer an entertaining way to spend a few hours with a chance at winning real prizes. If you're in it for financial gain, you might be better off entering a low entry fee tournament, where the prizes are usually much higher in relation to the number of players.
